3 · Provenance and limits

What was joined—and what was not

Weather stays native

The 25 hourly BARRA-R2 snowfall-flux fields were converted to liquid-equivalent millimetres and summed cell by cell. Missing values propagate strictly. Grid centres, ordering and values are retained; cell edges are midpoint-derived for display.

Terrain is an overlay and denominator

Native one-arcsecond DEM pixel rectangles are clipped against BARRA cell bounds and measured geodesically. The DEM supplies the inset and area weights—it never creates a higher-resolution weather field.

No 1500 m weather claim

Selecting 1500 m means “terrain at or above 1500 m” inside this one Thredbo context tile. It does not mean snow at 1500 m, and it does not modify BARRA using altitude.
